STUCCHI MUSICALI BAROCCHI
LA MUSICA DEGLI ANGELI
A historic place, its architecture, history and atmosphere become the starting point for a new musical idea.
At Gut Hohen Luckow, Ercole Nisini developed a complete musical concept as part of an artist-in-residence project, creating a direct connection between the Baroque rooms and their elaborate stucco decoration and newly composed music.
The central question was:
How can a historic place itself become the starting point for new music?

ARCHITECTURE AS INSPIRATION
The Baroque manor house Gut Hohen Luckow features extraordinary interiors with elaborate stucco ceilings, allegories, emblems and depictions of musical angels.
The architecture was not simply a venue for the performance. It became the artistic starting point.
The figures, symbols and stories depicted throughout the house inspired new compositions and musical arrangements. A dialogue emerged between the historic fabric of the building and a contemporary musical interpretation.
What can emerge musically from a place?
Music does not exist independently of its surroundings. It can grow out of a place’s history, atmosphere and imagery.
FROM IMAGES TO MUSIC
New musical works emerged from the emblems and allegories of the manor house.
Four emblems from the Knights’ Hall became the starting point for four new songs. The allegories of the four seasons, as well as the musical angels depicted in the stucco, also found their way into the compositions.
Historical instruments – Renaissance and Baroque trombone, theorbo, harp, chamber organ and historical percussion – connect the sound world of the house with a contemporary musical language.
This is not an attempt to reconstruct the past.
The historical world is understood as a source of inspiration and translated into a new musical present.

THE ROOMS COME ALIVE WITH MUSIC
The music created for Gut Hohen Luckow was not simply composed for the house, but for its rooms.
The acoustics, architecture and immediate proximity to the historic artworks became integral elements of the performance.
The result was a musical experience in which space, image and sound complement one another.
THE PRODUCTION
The artistic research and work on site developed into a complete production.
The project was premiered on 17 May 2025 as part of the artist-in-residence programme.
The music was subsequently recorded professionally (Michael Silberhorn - Genuin Classics) and developed into an independent production.
A site-specific artistic idea thus became a lasting and documented musical work.

A HISTORIC PLACE. A MUSICAL STORY. A NEW COMPOSITION.
Gut Hohen Luckow exemplifies the way Ercoles Music works:
A place is not merely a setting for music. Its identity becomes the starting point for the musical concept.
Ercoles Music develops individual musical projects in response to the character of a place, an institution, a company or a brand.
The result is music that becomes part of the identity of a place, a company or a brand.
